MIX

according to "austrian oak" governor Arnold Scwarzenegger

given that The fu crew and quite a few mixers are based there. I don't think many of you can be too happy at taxes being raised. any thought on this? =/

We're just the first state that is going to go through this. The Southern California housing collapse has been among the worst in the U.S. As unemployment continues to go up in 2009, other states will have to take drastic action, too. You can never be happy about taxes being raised, but I sure don't want to see a bigger disaster as a result of doing nothing.

ITS BULLSHIT! i hate cali taxes. i lose $200 fucking bones off my paycheck already, im tired if this state mis-spending in all the wrong damn places. people here act like its the best fucking place on the planet but when it comes down to it, there's a lot of shit behind the scenes that needs to be fixed. other than that...i like it here.

I don't live in California, but i think that where there are inefficiencies in expending the taxes, government should try to improve the spending process instead of doing the easy thing and raise taxes. During economic and financial collapses states act as if it was the worse thing, but the truth is that since we work with the capitalist system it's expected for these things to happen so why they don't save money for when crisis come.

Chile has done it and now they have a whole bunch of money ready in case the crisis affects them directly.

I hear that a couple of years ago (pre-housing bubble), that a lot of californians sold their homes, and moved to places like Phoenix and Austin, where they bought houses with CASH from their sales.

My friends in Austin are complaining about the Cali-influence that has been brought to the Lone Star State. Lord knows I see LOTS of Cali plates here in Phoenix.

Arnold's judgement day is looming

And no, it's not his (non) appearance/performance in "Terminator Salvation". Things are hotting up for arnie cosidering that - quoting the article...

"The breadth and depth of Mr Schwarzenegger’s cuts are unprecedented and no one in the state, not even its dozens of billionaires, will be unaffected. His more radical proposals include wiping billions of dollars from the education budget, with the school year shortened and larger classes."

"Hundreds, possibly thousands, of police and firemen will be laid off, and state employees who keep their jobs face pay cuts of at least 10 per cent."

"Parks will close, shutting access to thousands of square miles of beaches, redwood forest and other attractions that draw 80 million visitors a year. Thousands of prisoners will be released early and the notorious St Quentin penitentiary will be among state buildings put up for sale."

"All financial aid for university students, affecting 200,000 people from low-income families, will end."

Could this be the start of a big mass exodus out of cali? could this bring on severe civil unrest? will arnie Be terminated? any thoughts people?

Here's what he has to deal with: Yesterday he tweeted this -
"Instead of working on budget, the Legislature is about to debate whether cows can keep their tails while we're in a fiscal crisis."

how reminiscent of his budget cuts earlier in his office, when he said "hey we need more money, let's just kill all the puppies!"

i'm exaggerating, i think, but one of his more useless (in terms of money) cuts involved dumping out shelters. people weren't too pleased with that one, i'm sure they got him to come to his senses about it. now if someone could get him to come to his senses about everything else. fuck arnold, really. as far as i can tell california's been worse off every day he's been in office, and whatever good he's done for them it isn't worth it. if it wasn't clearly unconstitutional i'd move to ban celebs from running for office.

Oh come on - Al Franken is good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it - people like him!!

actually he came to mind the moment i wrote that. i was hoping he'd get in, but i'm not convinced (especially months into "maybe we can's" election, which i was also "hope-ing" for) that his term will be as amusing as his books or his snl characters. i'm getting pretty cynical in that regard, even with fellow lefties.

the right blames a war they started for whatever reason they made up, then they run the country in to a big pile of it, so they can't do anything good for the country ("i'm kinda busy with the war, guys!") then the left takes over to "clean up" after, and can't do anything good for the country cause "i'm kinda busy with the economy, guys!" it would be so cool to put someone up to the task of leading this country to a place that's truly beneficial to us. i think my "hope's" been exploited enough in that regard. if people want a country worth living in they're going to have to get their shit together and work for the progress they want, because politicians are fucking worthless... but arnold should be in the guinness book for worthless, next to obama and the rest of the republican party. you know why they call it the left wing? because it disappeared a long time ago.
