Subj: Democracy

JUST PLAIN SCARY!

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Democrats: 19
Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Democrats: 580,000
Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Democrats: 127 million
Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Democrats: 13.2
Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory won by Republicans was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare.

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

Men that beat their swords into plow's will plow for those with swords.

you know me derek, i just kind of sit on the sidelines and watch quietly, keeping my thoughts to myself.

and not to poke at your metaphor, but view it in light of george w. bush's pretzel.

there's a time for talk, and a time for action. obviously, most politicians forget there is a time for action. bush seems to forget everything (like the geneva conventions. that was talk that did some good!)

but sadly he went into a war that he was totally ignorant of. when i say ignorant, i mean if my own dad went there and didn't remove the dictator because it was an unstable region he'd rather have a (relatively harmless) 2 bit dictator in than have half the continent's terrorists vying for a chance at running the place if he destabilized it further, you'd think i would take into account not the "liberal whining" that people complained about, but the military intelligence on the first gulf war from daddy bush's own people that such "whining" was based on... so talk is a good thing. but only if people learn from it and act with sufficient wisdom.

I see that you have little to say about this, Tubejay. :-)

There is this funny commercial where a group of people are sitting in a restaraunt eating dinner. One of the people starts to choke on his food, and gets up, gasping for air.

The other people are talking amoung themselves as to what could be the problem, and possible solutions, etc. , but no actions.

Another guys gets up, goes over the the choking guy and does the hyemlich on him and he coughs up the obstruction. He thanks the savoir, and they go ease back to the dinner table. The other people are still talking about their "solutions, options, and tactics" - and now they are doing "See, I told you" talk.

This is precisely why I hate politics. Too much talk, very little action. My plan is better than yours - no it's not.

That's one thing GWBush didn't do. He put HIS plans into actions, and he found out FOR SURE that they don't work! ;-)

"If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years."

there is no apathy like the apathy of people to swallow information as fact, (we are often too busy to get the facts the first time around,) and then also to rely on it as fact without ever revisiting our prejudices. it's a wonder anyone knows anything at all, if indeed anyone does.

but greater than the abandonment of facts is the abandonment of context. if you rape an entire country of wealth and business, and make it your own and keep everything, you have far less business feigning superiority or acting imposed upon when the people you left with nothing come looking for your help. (all the more if you intend to call yourself a "christian," but that's another matter...) who will revisit nafta? oh, no one can be bothered.

i remember obama said nafta was unjust, and i usually think i like him, but if he does nothing about this issue i'll know it's something he lied about, just as bush lied about finding bin laden and bringing him to justice. but the only reason most people will take note of it at all will be to bolster the image (and ignore any reasonable assessment) of their own party. people have no use for facts, for context, or for reason. appearance, not information is the true national currency.

i am certain that the author of these findings is completely alike the average citizen in that regard. pardon me if i'm not impressed by his attempts to blame impoverished people for illegally taking jobs with corporations like walmart, when it is such corporations that rely not only on illegal labor and impoverished nations for their existence and expansion, but who themselves are the actual cause of the poverty that makes them desperate enough to leave home and work here for nothing, and it is such corporations that rely on our apathy and lack of action more than anyone in this country.

while we talk of small government, the corporation replaces our representation with their own, and the smaller the government gets, the more the corporations dictate our existence. meanwhile partisan nonsense like the article i am responding to tells you to stop letting the democrats kowtow to the mexicans, so businesses like walmart can take over our country like they took over mexico.

how apathetic would we have to be? certainly no more than the author would ask, and no more than we are now. not, naturally, that anyone is worried about that either. all you need to worry about is whether you prefer a walmart nation to a hispanic one. our economy relies on slavery just as much as it did at any time in history, but we're equal opportunity slave-owners now. we'll enslave whites, mexicans, and if that's not enough we'll outsource our plantations.

don't let the fact that all the high paying jobs are disappearing distract you from your patriotic white american mission of stopping aliens from taking those sweatshop jobs on the border of california you want so badly. after all, most of the work that goes illegally to foreign slave laborers isn't going to mexican immigrants but to young chinese boys and girls. what really matters isn't any of that, however. what you really want is LOW PRICES, ALWAYS. if anyone cared about the real cost, businesses like walmart wouldn't be running the country, and telling you to blame the people for taking the jobs the same corporations gave to them in exchange for illegally minor sums of money.

those workers should know better! we stole it first, get your own. above all though, stop being suckered by those other guys (democrats) that don't care about you like we do. this is america, after all, which means if we're going to have a nation of underpaid workers with no health care or opportunity to improve their station, they better be white or at least legal citizens. that's the most important thing, and it's time people got off their asses and cared about it a little more!
